Our Feelings Can Be Misleading

Before I gave my heart to the Lord I did things in a church that made me feel good. Since I felt good I believed I was right with God. So I kept doing those things to keep or regain the good feelings. My own actions were the cause of my good feelings. What I had was faith in my feelings and faith in myself.

Hebrews 11:24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; 25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;

Sin can feel good but its good feelings are temporary and end in disaster. Taking medication or harmful drugs can also cause good feelings. The words feeling and feelings do not appear in the Bible. Our feelings can be substitutes for God. They can be idols. Faith in God, obeying Him and being at His right hand will provide for us lasting pleasures that will never harm us.

Psalms 16:11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Isaiah 47:8 Therefore hear now this, thou that art given to pleasures, . . . verse 11 therefore shall evil come upon thee.

2 Timothy 3:2a For men shall be lovers of their own selves, . . . 4b lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God . . . 5b from such turn away.

Titus 3:3a For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures,

Proverbs 10:22 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.

Believing in Jesus causes eternal life and eternal blessings.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth IN HIM should not perish, but have everlasting life.
